Post-tsunami Phuket

Although it would represent the facts wrong, they say today's Phuket - Thailand's largest island and one of the most popular destinations in the world - looks the same as before the tsunami of 2004 that the greatest natural disaster in recorded history was made of the earth. But reliable evidence for it confirms that visitors to Phuket would have little reason to believe that the island and its famous beaches have never been hit by deadly.

Think about what fell on the Thai Prime MinisterThaksin Shinawatra heard a lot of credit for the remarkable recovery, probably the most thorough of the places affected by the tsunami, to him. It detects motion in its efforts to pay Thailand provides debt to the IMF for its recovery from the 1997 financial crisis in the early stages that Thailand Thaksin to visit her own recovery - and not wait for the money of international aid to come.

Some of this recovery is laced with controversy. First and foremost are theCommissions that many of the friends of former prime minister to the recipients of the land was bountiful, the rights of extra-legal adoption was on land that has been in years residents of Phuket, where the documents of property destroyed along with many other things during catastrophe.

But unlike many of the gloomy economic forecasts have long-term adverse effects of the disaster in Thailand, tourists who have not come true. For most tourists areback to the beaches and resorts on the Patong Beach 's island on the coast of the Andaman Sea, and new or newly resorts are there to accommodate them - and to provide essential employment opportunities for Thais in the tourist industry. No significant drop in the number of tourists in this critical region reported.

Unfortunately the same does not apply to all parts of the Andaman coast of Thailand to say the tsunami affected. The reconstruction has been slow and full ofControversy in Khao Lak, north, Phi Phi Island to the north, and coastal water transport from Krabi to Phi Phi. Have many years of participating in many of these places, try different ways to prevent the original owners of tourist properties there to lose their land and licenses. Not all efforts were successful, and the complaints are related to the countries stifled Thailand cumbersome judicial system.

However, the dramatic recovery of Phuket, a beacon of hope for similarhas positions on both sides of the Andaman Islands and the Indian Ocean, for the recovery slower and even more full of difficulties.
