Marble quarries and forested pockets of astounding beauty adorn this ancient village. Moorish and Roman heritage are birth and history to this ever-adapting village, which now plays host to many visitors from abroad. Coin makes good use of its past, an irrigation system that the Moors established many hundreds of years ago is still in use. Coins traditional economy is based on oil and wine manufacture and it is readily acceptable to tourism and the provision of it.
There is a horse riding school in Coin called Rancho Huerta del Batan, which organises holidays through the Andalucian countryside. Enjoy a trek through the Sierra de la Nieves Reserve Park. Coin also hosts one of the most prestigious horse breeder shows with classes and competitions on show. Hiking, biking, and rock climbing are also very popular around here too. Coin is also famous for the old film set 'El Dorado' and casting still goes on today.
There are many good restaurants serving local cuisine and international food which serves the traditional qualities of the area carefully fused with the foreign influence that live in this Andalucian backdrop. Ox and ostrich are just two unusual menu listings that you may decide to indulge in.
Malaga airport is a mere 22km away from Coin. Flight transfers from this airport are very good. Shuttle services and taxis are readily available but if you want to get out and about and give more options to your vacation then hiring a car is definitely the best way to get the most out of Coin and at the same time visit local places to take in the beach, coastal sports and golf that nearby places can offer. All transfers and car hire should be possible at the same time of booking your flight ticket.
The temptation to stay in a village that was once part of an old television set is very enticing for many. So a great choice is to rent your holiday home. These can vary from more period dated town houses to more modern styled homes.
